This section of
the website is new and shortly we will be showing you all the
alternatives proposed for the land adjacent to Clifford's Tower.
If you are involved in proposing one of these options, please
contact us and we would be happy to create an additional page to
this site showing your proposal. You can email us
at

There are currently
five alternatives for the land:
1. The Coppergate Riverside Development. Propsed by property
development company, Land Securities. This appears to be the
least popular alternative, according to surveys, and would
encroach onto Clifford's
Tower and is being actively campaigned against.
2. Only slightly more popular is leaving the area as it is - a
rather unsightly car park.
3. An Italian-style piazza has also been proposed, although many
people do not understand the reasoning behind this in a
traditional Yorkshire setting with its own rich history.
4. Acceptable to most parties and campaigners, the Castle Quarter
provides some small shops and cafes, whilst retaining an area near
the tower as a park.
5. The fifth alternative is for the entire area to be converted
into a park.

Tomorrow's intention for the site as a green municipal space.
